Movin' Out
Now that exams are over and grades are in, it's time to say both our usual good-byes and Congratulations to graduating seniors and to say good-bye to Monroe Hall - if only for a couple of years.
So, Congratulations to the members of class of 2009 (and Dec. 2008): Arianna Drumond, Amanda Walkins, Baker Pruiksma, Brittany Cook, Chris Clark, Emily Fornof, Elizabeth Bouton, Gretchen Gorecki, Hilary Lufkin, Colin Deyman, Krystal Bopp, Jacqui Newman, Leah Shopneck, Karen Portillo, James Blacker, Jonathan Bell, Jonathan Trenary, Jessica English, Jessica Bellah, Katie Andree, Katherine Malpeli,Katie Robinson, Michelle Swagler, Remington Rand, Natalie Wright, Stephanie Mercurio, Mikaela Mulligan, Deena Furry, and Miklos Bodnar! We wish you every success!
Sadly, It's also time to pack up and move out of Monroe Hall. For 30 years, the Geography Department has occupied offices, classrooms, and the cartography lab on the 3rd floor of Monroe. As our recent newsletter suggests, many graduates remember the long hours spend in Jim Gouger's cart lab (even students who graduated after Jim retired understand what defenestration means).
But, we've got a great temporary home and look forward to May 2011 when we begin to move back into Monroe. As I've shown in earlier blogs, we'll keep the cartography lab and add some special purpose lab space (pollen analysis and Geospatial).
In the interim, come on by our new home. You'll find "Monrovia" (Annex B is the offical name) on College Avenue between Chandler Hall and Fairfax House.
Best wishes for a wonderful summer!
