Geography Student Awards - Spring 2009
Every Spring the Geography Department recognizes some of the best junior and senior majors by presenting five awards and the Geography Alumni Scholarhship. This year's awards and winners are:
Richard P. Palmieri Award: Presented to a non-senior geography major who demonstrates excellence in introductory and upper-level coures.
Recipient: Timothy St. Onge (2010)
Geography Alumni Scholarship: Granted to a rising junior or senior geography major in recognition of their achievement and contributions to the department.
Recipient: Allyson Thompson (2010)
Matthew Fontaine Maury Award: Presented to the student who excels in geographic techniques.
Recipient: Keith Garrett (2009)
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark Award: Given to the graduating geography major with the highest GPA in geography courses.
Recipient: Leah Shopneck (2009)
NCGE Excellence in Scholarship Award: Given to the student who has demonstrated an enthusiasm for an commitment to geography
Recipient: Hilary Lufkin (2009)
Harold Thompson Straw Award: Presented to the senior who has the most potential for scholarly contributions in geography
Recipient: Emily Fornot (2009)
